Just a shot of the Javanese wrap because I was quite fascinated by how my flabby mis-section was held in with those knots with just one very long strip of cloth!
One of the best things about not being pregnant is getting to have massages again!
Since I didn't get a confinement lady this time round, my post-natal massage sessions were the only thing I conscientiously researched and booked in advance. I had gotten the traditional Malay Jamu massage the last time round with Noey, and while I have no complaints about the massage, I wasn't so fond of the Jamu that they used for the binding. It smelled rather strong, and bits of the powder would drop on the floor towards the end of the day (probably as a result of my constant movement). Still, I had found it effective, both for relaxation and for regaining my shape, so I was going to contact the massage lady again when one of my church friends recommended Hannah for post-natal massage. "None of her strokes are wasted," said Grace. As an achy heavy pregnant woman badly in need of a rub, that was exactly what I wanted!
It turned out to be the best part of my morning, just lying there and getting all the kinks in my back rubbed away. The massage was great. DD, who was tasked with looking after both kids for that one hour, was quite envious, as you can imagine.
I wish I found out earlier that Hannah gives massages all the way up to delivery. I probably would have indulged in some earlier!
The most stressful part was having to lock Noey out of the room. Not unexpectedly, he's super sticky to me these days after Naomi's arrival and did not take kindly to being left to Papa while Mummy disappeared into her room. After a few mis-steps, I had to schedule the morning carefully, making sure I had enough time to feed Noey breakfast, feed Naomi and/or express, and prep and pep-talk Noey about the session before my appointment at 9.30am. Reminder to self: Don't take such an early appointment if ever I do this again. Big IF there, I assure you.
Anyway, I did dutifully wear the wrap till the evening on most days, or until my need for a shower won out. And it has been remarkably effective in shrinking my tummy back to size. The flab and loose skin is still there, so I've some ways to go to looking decent for my sister's wedding at the end of April!
Very interesting! I must try this next time!
ReplyDeleteI remember this! The jamu paste makes the skin soo warm. I usually had it on till the evening (or when it gets itchy!) then it's off. =)
ReplyDelete@Debra At least do it for the massage. It is really a treat!
ReplyDelete@Pamz TT I tried to keep it on as long as possible cos I'm vain! Haha. Really want my tummy to shrink back. It's already got all these ugly stretch marks that I don't know how to get rid of.
i am SO trying this the next time!
ReplyDeleteIF there is a next time ;PPPPP
Wow, no experience with this either, but it looks ...... tight!
ReplyDeleteNish
@kopikia as the aunties have been telling you "try for a girl!" haha.
ReplyDelete@Nish yah, it's tight alright! she really leans into it when she ties it!
Hi! Do you still have Hannah's contact number for the post natal massage? Can't seem to open the link anymore.. Thanks so much in advance dear!
ReplyDeleteHi Amelia, I heard that Hannah retired! :( Was really disappointed to hear that. Hope you'll be able to find someone else good.
