We didn't intentionally set out to do things differently in the new year, but after the rain spoilt our plans to go to Sentosa for some time on the beach, we found ourselves heading, of all places, to the airport on a random excursion.
(We figured that if the Easties love to just go to the airport for fun so much, there's got to be a reason!)
Of course we'd forgotten that the airport is HUGE. And I am very pregnant. Suffice to say, I was really puffing along before long!
We meandered around, had dinner at Dian Xiao Er, rode the Sky Train back and forth, checked out the Christmas decor (which I found rather strange), and tried to spot planes taking off and landing. We went to 2 aviation galleries at T2 and T3 and were disappointed to find that the gallery did not look out directly on the runway, but instead overlooked a section of the transit hall. The planes were further separated by another panel of glass, which made it difficult to see them clearly at night. Perhaps we should have tried T1 but I really couldn't be asked to walk anymore. Hah.
Still Noey enjoyed himself climbing around and playing with the interactive exhibits. So much so that when we tried to leave, he asking to leave "later!". He refused to be enticed by yet another Sky Train ride, to the extent of telling us that "Papa is scared of the train". Yah, right.
It was, all in all, an interesting excursion, but with all the walking I had to do that evening, I'm sure I will not be back for a no-reason-visit till after this baby has popped!
Yes the Christmas displays at the airport were BEYOND WEIRD!! I saw a rocking horse that looked like a sphinx with some weird wing or tail or whatever it was. Most disturbing!
ReplyDeleteYeah we go to the airport all the time. Firstly, Bean loves the MRT ride there, secondly lots of space for him to run around, thirdly it's free if I don't buy anything from there.
ReplyDeleteT3's carpark got this place where kids sit on those automated vehicles and they go round and round. Check it out the next time.
Yeah, the gallery is nothing like how we remembered it when we were young...looking out onto the runway with planes taking off.
ReplyDeleteThe airport is usually packed nowadays, with families!
PF :: i saw that one! also thought the one that spewed balls that folks were queuing up to collect was kinda... off.
ReplyDeletemichelle :: i was looking for that in the T3 carpark but didn't see it! which level of the carpark is it at?
lilsnooze :: i was thinking maybe T1 would still have that type of viewing gallery? but i really couldn't be asked to make the trip!
It's at Carpark 3A basement 2, babe!
ReplyDeleteWow... "papa is scared of the train"? Your son really can think up of reasons, yes? But sounds like Noey had a great time! :)
