Happy Fathers' Day!

For Fathers' Day today, I wanted to give my favourite father the type of day he loves. Lots of sleep (hah!), lots of photos, and an evening having a picnic in the park with his 2 babies.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Instead, the day belonged to our fathers -- two last-minute appointments resulted in us heading to MBS for lunch with DD's Dad and family, and dinner at an old family favourite with my Dad and family. Appointments which we practically dragged ourselves to as a late night last night after attending DD's cousin's wedding dinner followed by an early start for church this morning resulted in a whiny, overtired Noey who burst into tears at the slightest provocation and two low energy tired parents. Nomi, bless her, was tired too but mostly as easy-going as always.

I knew DD was tired when he didn't respond to my suggestion for him to at least take a photo with both of the kids to commemorate the day.

It's okay, he said, we took some shots together, and at least today, I got to do quite a lot of fathering.

And that he did, managing a fretful Noey with patience and understanding even as Mummy here grew impatient with the whining and tears. He hefted Noey everywhere, and entertained him through lunch and dinner, and also in between, when I had to tend to Nomi. And as usual, he stepped in with the discipline when necessary. (In our house, while Papa is fun and games, he is also very much the disciplinarian. It often only takes a stern voice and stare from him and Noey would quickly comply.)

Anyway, he added, Mei-mei gave me my Fathers' Day gift.

That she did, by chortling out loud repeatedly in the afternoon, much to everyone's delight. DD was even more pleased that he managed to catch it on video.

That's my low-maintenance husband for you.

Happy Fathers' Day dear. We are lucky to have you.
Our first time ever at MBS and up at the Sky Park. The view is really something!
