Angry Birds Adventure Atop Mt Faber

Look who's an Angry Bird!
A couple of weeks back, I was invited to Singapore Cable Car's media launch of the Angry Birds Adventure Atop Mount Faber.

When I first got the invite, I knew I had to go and bring my Angry-Birds-loving little man along. Yup, Noey LOVES playing Angry Birds. For this, I blame my brother, who was the one who introduced the game to him. I had resisted downloading the game when I first got my iPhone because I knew I'd get addicted too easily. I have since proven myself to be right.

I in fact came to learn of how proficient Noey is at phonics because I came across him trying to search for angry birds videos on my iPad a couple of months ago. He had entered "ANGRE BRDS" and google understood.

Noey was understandably very excited when I told him we were going to see and ride in Angry Birds cable cars. For one thing, he actually really enjoys the cable car ride, having been up a couple of times with his grandfather before.

We rode a cable car from Harbourfront Centre over to Mount Faber. Alas, we didn't realise that not all the cable cars were decked out in the Angry Birds theme and so hopped onto a non-Angry-Birds cable car. I realised that I must have hopped into the wrong cable car when we saw the right ones whizzing by us. Fortunately, Noey was still in good spirits.

We're in the Cable Car! Yeah!

We're in the cable car! Yeah!

Look Mummy! An Angry Birds Cable Car! There!

We arrived at Mount Faber and were greeted by Angry Birds Space iPad Game Stations. Wow, thought Noey. I had to tear him away from them.

The iPad stations were more of a hit with the little boy than with Mummy.

While I attended the media session, Noey was entertained at the creative workshops that they have for kids. I understand that these will be on-going from June to December 2012, and during the June school holidays, the activities include these include colouring competitions, egg painting activities and balloon sculpting. There is a fee, though it includes the cable car ride and museum tour, as well as admission to Sentosa.

The colorful kids' activity section. In the foreground are kids painting eggs and decorating them to look like Angry Birds. At the second table in the background, the kids are making Angry Birds' masks out of felt.

Noey was landed with the colouring. While not his favourite activity, he gamely settled down to participate.

I think what he was more interested in were the live game stations, which he got to try out once the event was officially launched.

For a boy who is always asking about catapults, how cool was this?

He couldn't wait for me to finish with the photo taking.

A pivoting table that Noey could barely see over, but still wanted to try. Behind him you can see a ball game in which you toss balls in the funnel at the top and aim to get them to drop between pins into the correct coloured pockets at the bottom.

Huge display of the Angry Birds toys in the gift shop.

The toys have push-button audio, and Noey couldn't resist going to set them off.

And of course, the Cable Car ride itself.

Promising to be a full-sensorial experience, upon stepping into the cabin (we got in the correct ones this time!) we were treated to the sounds of Angry Birds chirping and pigs snorting. This amused Noey a great deal. He also enjoyed the short video clip in the style explaining the Angry Birds in Singapore storyline. It was in the style of the introductory videos to the game levels, which he loves. In the cabin was an Angry Birds plush toy which you can take pictures with. We did, of course!

Pulverizing the poor pig!

There are also angry birds masks that are provided with the tickets which you can use to ham up your pictures if you so choose. Apart from all that, there is also the great view to enjoy.

High above what appears to be a new section of RWS? Those curvy slides sure look interesting!

Noey totally enjoyed himself. The added bonus was this key ring plush in the form of the red angry bird that came with his kids' meal at the media lunch. He had a lot of fun pretending to catapult it out of his hands.

Phewww!

When we got home, I put together a makeshift catapult for him using rubber bands strung between the legs of his dining chair. He was playing with it for the whole week.

All in all, Angry Birds Adventure Atop Mount Faber is an interesting twist to Angry Birds. Bringing the game to live, as it were. While the craft activities are, to me, a bit hit and miss, and dependent on your child's personality, the live game stations on the other hand are fun for everyone. And the cable car ride was kind of fun. We'll probably hop on for a ride the next time we venture to Sentosa.

Don't forget to look up while you're in the vicinity of the cable car route and you might see the red and yellow bird chasing the green pig around and around!

* We were invited to the media launch and went on the cable car ride and participated in the games as part of the event. All opinions are strictly my own.

  2. Wow such a great opportunity! loved the concentrated look on his face (with tongue sticking out corner of mouth) when he was playing the table game.
