He's 21: Swensen's Planes Cake + Giveaway

Before I had Noey and Meips, my baby was my brother. 

Just over a week ago, that baby turned 21. Honestly I never thought I'd see the day! But here it is: my baby brother is officially an adult.

Plans for a bigger party had to be shelved as his National Service duties got in the way. Instead, the family got together for a teppanyaki dinner. It's everyone's favourite cuisine, adults and kids alike. But I had a little surprise for him that was a throwback to our childhood: a Swensen's Ice-Cream Cake! My siblings and I have had Swensen's ice-cream cakes for various birthdays while growing up and I thought it was memorable to have to mark this milestone year for him.

He did have a good laugh over the design, which featured Dusty, the main character of Disney's latest animated films, Planes. I told him it was apt since he was just about to fly off for training. Haha. Besides he'll always be my baby brother, no matter how old he really is!

The cake certainly made him the envy of my two kids however, with Noey immediately climbing on his lap to assume the prime position in front of it. He certainly ooh-ed and aah-ed over the plane, and I think we would have to make a date to catch the movie when it comes out in the cinemas.

Looks like it's Noey's birthday, doesn't it? I think both boys were happy to keep it that way.

After the candles are blown, the moment of truth...

Even my Mum who is very strict about eating anything sweet decided to indulge in a bit of the ice-cream cake. She promptly finished her whole piece and pronounced it well worth it. The kids of course were both thrilled to be having ice-cream, but for me, I got that extra satisfaction watching them enjoy the the same treat I used to enjoy as a child.

I really enjoyed hearing about your favourite Swensen's flavours. Clearly Sticky Chewy Chocolate was the hot favourite. I'm a tad disappointed that no one picked Mocha Almond Fudge! You've really got to try it guys, and Salted Gula Melaka as well!
