Anniversary Date

With my parents' blessings, I escaped my confinee status on Wednesday night to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary.

I was resigned to spending our anniversary at home and perhaps postponing any celebrations to next month but DD decided that we needed the break from home to lift my spirits. I love my baby but I've been getting restless cooped up at home, especially when it's been so HOT and MUGGY recently. Thankfully my mother also agreed I needed to get out and okay-ed our excursion. She even volunteered to come over to help babysit even though I told her the confinement nanny should be able to handle it. Awww.

The hubs and I were both soooo excited -- no confinement food! Honestly, I've been okay with the confinement menu but it's been almost 3 weeks of Chinese food for lunch and dinner everyday and the pasta junkie in me was in withdrawal. We didn't want to venture too far in case I needed to rush back to pacify my hungry baby -- a little research, and we decided to try Casa Verde at the Botanic Gardens.

It turned out to be a lovely evening. I managed to wear one of my old pre-pregnancy dresses and got into a pair of heels for the first time in months, and hand-in-hand with the hubs, made it out of the house for dinner, just the 2 of us. And the food was just what the doctor ordered for my mood: italian, light and really yummy. The menu featured 2 pages of pizzas and a dinner menu with 3 items per section -- Antipasti, Primi, Secondi and Dessert -- and the portions were decent, yet small enough that one could order a dish from every section and not be overly full (or maybe we were just greedy from deprivation). Between the 2 of us we shared a pizza and a starter, had a pasta and a dessert each and it was GREAT.

Me with my tagliatelle with hand cut salmon ragu and bottarga. I don't usually like cooked salmon but this was really good. And I could return home and tell my Mum I had fish for dinner!

DD with the house speciality pizza, Sfilatino Casa Verde, calzone style with a tomato dipping sauce

And the glasses of champagne we have beside us? We ran into one of the lawyers I was working on a project with prior to going on maternity at the restaurant, and he and his dinner partner very sweetly bought us a mini bottle of champagne with their congratulations on our anniversary. How sweet was that?

DD bought me a gift -- a starfish on a chain from Tiffany's for everyday wear which I put on immediately, but as always, it was the card he wrote that brought tears to my eyes. It's been 3 years of marriage, nearly 8.5 years of being in a relationship, 11 years of being friends. And it's still as good, and in many ways better than ever. Happy anniversary, my best friend.

Me with the massive bouquet which the hubs had delivered to our home earlier in the day. I had a huge headache trying to find a vase big enough to hold it!

P.S. We came home in about 2 hours to find that Noah was asleep the entire time we were away, so it was a perfect guilt-free evening!
