Back from Perth

We (together with our red-faced baby) are back from sunny Perth!

This was a trip that almost didn't happen, with the Swine Flu situation still evolving even as we were packing. As a result, we also faced some strong objections from my parents over bringing the little bub with us on the trip. We thought hard about it, prayed harder, and still decided that we needed the break and we wanted our baby with us, so off we went. And I'm glad we did.

It was a very different type of holiday to the ones we are used to. We didn't pack our days with activities, we didn't drive from town to town, region to region, we didn't even get out of the hotel before 12pm everyday, and it was not because we couldn't wake up because for the first time EVER on holiday, DD was awake by 7.30am every morning to do his shift with our little early riser. Instead, we took our time, went for strolls, did some shopping, explored the neighbourhood and pretty much spent all the time during and in between watching our son grow up.

The weather was glorious -- 27-28 C with sunny blue skies day after day for the whole week. It really didn't feel like winter was almost upon us. Guess we were lucky enough to come across an indian summer. During the lovely warm days we explored the Hay St and Murray St Malls which were a stone's throw from where we were staying, made a trip to Harbourtown, another to Fremantle and spent a morning in beautiful King's Park. The things I will remember though are seeing Noey master crawling on all fours, watching Noey play and try to catch his shadow, Noey sitting up and grabbing the handrail of his stroller all ready and waiting for the day's activities, and his look of wonder at the sights around him, his squeals of delight when playing with Daddy, and generally spending time chatting and unwinding with DD in between everything else.

And of course, the friends we met -- Joe and YX and little Yew Rong, Ron and Janet and little Caitlin -- and the conversations we shared in the process.

We didn't take too many photos of note during this trip though I'll post a few once I've been through them. But we did manage to get a couple of nice ones of the 3 of us together (like the one below), thanks to Ron. He also got some really cute ones of Noey that he has posted on his blog here.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing a fair bit more of Perth from now on...

  4. Sockling :: Thanks! It was tiring in some ways but a good break indeed!

Imp :: Do we? :) I enjoyed it being just the 3 of us for the whole week.

Peifen :: Still interested in the Beco -- trying to fix a date with Ashley for the trial and demo! But for Perth we used this Snugli one that my parents got for us when he was born. It was pretty handy but I would want to get a more ergonomic one, esp when he's getting so heavy!

Lilsnooze :: More trips in future hopefully! Haha.

  9. Shyanyan :: Thanks! Holidays are the best! :)

Daphne :: Hahahaha... yes, where I dragged him through 5 parks in 5 days starting the day we landed at 6am! This time he definitely got more rest. As he said, this holiday was more his pace... :P

Debra :: Yeah, it's one of those ideal baby-friendly destinations! Maybe we'll be meeting up with each other there! Heh.

Lingz :: It was Ron's suggestion. Don't you just find the London Court so incongruous with everything else around it?
