Is it Monday Already?

Emerging from the long Christmas weekend satiated and happy. It was a weekend of meet-ups and feasting for us with friends and family, and truth be told, it was exactly the kind of Christmas I love. (And the kind that is tolerated by DD, who would, conversely, be more than happy holed up at home.)

Last year's Christmas was a quiet one. With our still-rather-new baby in tow and my best friends out of the country, we didn't have much planned and instead dropped by a couple of parties at the request of relatives, which I didn't enjoy much. I also didn't manage to finish my Christmas shopping and ended up getting my Mum to fill in the gaps for me and owing presents to some, like my sister.

This year, I was determined that it would be different. Even though my best friends are still not around and DD's family cancelled the annual Christmas lunch, I filled our timetable slowly, filling it with gatherings with people I really wanted to meet and spend time with. And I decided to start the Christmas shopping early. Like in November. This turned out to be a really good idea on my part since I really can only shop on the days I'm working! Plus I decided what I was going to cook, didn't commit to too much, and made arrangements accordingly.

The result of all this was that we had a relatively stress-free Christmas. Which left us free to enjoy to season and of course, to reflect on the meaning behind it all.

More coming up, if and when I can find the opportunity to write it all down!

In the meantime, I leave you with my find of the season: Macarons from Artisan Sweets.

I was introduced to these by Drey's sister who gifted us an absolutely scrumptious box for her little bub's 1st month. I usually don't touch macarons because all the ones I've tried locally are just too sweet. But not these. These have the right amount of bite and sweetness, and an interesting variety of flavours. Both DD and I walloped the first box we got and I popped down to get small boxes for colleagues and other friends. All well received, from what I hear!

Hope you had a sweet Christmas too.
