Weekly Snapshot: Feeding Time

Noey has discovered the joy of feeding the ducks and the other residents of the pond at the Botanic Gardens. "Let's go to the Park!" we'd say to him. "Botanics!" he'd insist.

There he would slowly pinch off little bits of bread and drop them into the water, squealing wiwth delight when his little contribution gets gobbled up gratefully by the pond residents.

We visited around sunset the previous Sunday and discovered that the ducks go into hiding in the evenings, so we ended up feeding the tortoises instead. We counted up to 22 tortoises which swam up to us that evening if I remember correctly! And Noey was just as happy. But now you know: if you want to see the ducks at the Botanics, go in the morning. The earlier the better.

"There's the moon Papa!"
(With more than a bit of a parallex error)

Such simple carefree evenings? My absolute favourite.

  1. This is K's favourite activity too, so much that I usually have a bag of overnight bread in my bread (aka doraemon's pouch) just so she can feed the ducks and pigeons.

  4. Hey the tortoises are at which lake again? That doesn't look like the Swan Lake from that angle.

"Botanics" on a weekend is really fantastic for chilling. Thing is Truett insists on plunging headfirst into the lake - natural instinct whenever he sees a body of water. So we spend most of our time finding a balance between giving him enough space to roam but no enough for imminent death. haha

  6. MG :: I think it's a great way for me to get rid of my stale bread instead of chucking it down the chute. Fun too!

Jus :: His shirt's from Old Navy!

Daphne (motherinc) :: You're right, it's not swan lake. It's the Cluny Park end of Botanics, behind Jacob Ballas. There are parts where the ground just gently slopes into the water tho Tru could sneak in there if you're not watching :) I find that we see more birds and tortoises around there tho.

Daphne :: Haha, we didn't really have a choice with his hair style considering how he screams blue murder in the hairdressers! It's just the only way to get his hair shorter in as quick a time as possible!
