Rise & Shine Expo 2013: What To Expect In The First Year Workshop + Giveaway

You might have noticed from the logo on my sidebar that I am one of Partner Bloggers for the Rise & Shine movement. This is a movement started by three mothers with the mission of providing parents like themselves the opportunity to learn, share and identify holistic approaches to raising happier and healthier children. This would all be culminating in the Rise and Shine Expo, which would be happening on 27-29 September 2013 at the Suntec Convention Hall 401.

Aside from being the first children's healthcare and development expo to be held Singapore, the stand-out feature of this event for me is the fact that there will be more than 60 seminars and workshops addressing challenges faced by modern parents, some of which will be conducted by internationally renown experts in the field of parenting and childhood development. Confirmed international speakers include Heidi Murkoff, the author of the world's best-selling pregnancy and parenting series, What to Expect, Dr William Sears, a leading American paediatrician and author/co-author of more than 30 parenting books, who surely needs no introduction, and Dr Thomas Armstrong, an award-winning author and speaker on learning and human development.

I believe as parents who want the best for our children, the first step is to arm ourselves with knowledge that would enable us to make the most appropriate choices for ourselves and our children. Which is why I am excited to be sharing more information on some of the talks and workshops that I am interested in. I don't know about you, but I was one who religiously referred to What To Expecting When you're Expecting when I was pregnant. A friend lent me her well-thumbed copy and it accompanied me through pregnancy, answering most of my questions, some even before they occurred to me. 

In this workshop, Heidi Murkoff, will cover everything from monthly growth and development, to feeding for every age, selecting the right toys, learning age-appropriate discipline strategies, handling tantrums, creating a stimulating environment for growth, decoding your baby's crying, and managing conflicts between parents. Sounds like a lot huh! Guess that's why it is touted as a must-attend workshop for all new parents!
