I remember first watching Barney & Friends with my kid brother way back in the 90s. I was never a big fan, but then again, I was already way past the age when Barney would appeal to me. So I didn't expect to be in line to catch Barney & Friends in their latest live performance. But I now have two kids. Two kids who, when I asked the question: "Do you want to go watch Barney?" responded with resounding cries of "YES!!!"
And that's how I ended up rushing down after a very busy Saturday afternoon to catch Barney, Baby Bop and BJ in the flesh at City Square Mall. We were certainly not the only ones -- the whole atrium was packed full of Barney fans. Many of whom came hours ahead of time to grab their spot.
Well, they weren't disappointed. The show was an entertaining mix of songs and dancing that would delight any fan. Indeed, many of the kids were on their feet, singing and dancing along.
The highlight of course was the meet and greet with Barney and gang after the performance. My two practically skipped down to join the line, and when it was their turn to step up, Meips sprang forward and gave every one of the characters a big hug before the picture. For once I didn't have to prompt them to smile! It definitely made the rushing down worth it.
This is the last weekend that you can catch Barney's World of Imagination live on stage at City Square Mall, with shows at 1pm, 4pm and 7pm this Saturday and Sunday. Do go down early to grab your space! To grab an exclusive Meet-and-Greet pass (there are only 50 available for each session), spend a minimum of $50 at City Square Mall and redeem your pass 45 minutes before each show. Passes will be made available on a strictly first-come-first-served basis.
Kids can also dress up in their favourite Barney & Friends costume for a photo opportunity (minimum spending of $30), and take part in a sure-win lucky spin to win Barney & Friends merchandise (minimum spend $200).
* We received a media invite to watch and meet Barney. Opinions and delighted smiles (from the kids) are strictly our own. The kids' clothes are sponsored by FOX.
