Loss

In response to everyone who has asked me - and there were many today - if I knew the victim of the attack: No, I don't, not beyond her being a familiar face in the corridors on campus years ago.

But I feel no less sad about the whole incident. It hit pretty close to home, especially since it really could have been someone I knew, or any one of us on a work trip. And looking at my baby now, my heart is heavy for the family. I gave him a kiss and held him close. The world is such a crazy place, all I want to do is keep him safe.
