After 3 days at Port Stephens, we drove back to Sydney and embarked on the solo portion of our trip. Well, kinda solo since we still met up with Dad and the rest of the family on a couple of occasions.
Our main reason for moving to stay in the City was so that it would be easier to visit some of the attractions in and around Sydney's City Centre, including the Sydney Aquarium and The Australian Museum. With that in mind, and given the fact that we were travelling with a young tot in tow, we opted for a serviced apartment at Fraser Suites. Our room came with a little kitchenette, which provided me the space to set up our trusty crock pot to cook porridge for our little fussy eater. And the location was hard to beat -- right along Kent Street, a stone's throw from lots of shopping (including the iconic QVB) and a short walk to Darling Harbour. I later realised that it was just steps away from Tetsuya's! But alas, with the little man in tow, I hadn't thought to make any reservations and had to make do with walking by everyday. So near and yet so far!
The reviews on TripAdvisor for Fraser Suites were a bit mixed but we were happy enough with our room. It was comfortable and large enough for the three of us. The bathroom was a bit tiny and I would have appreciated a long bath, which would have made it easier to bathe Noey. But the best part of the room, for the little man at least, was the view. Not the buildings, naturally, but the planes. We were on a flight path so planes flew past regularly, much to his delight. And the planes were far enough away such that wasn't noisy, so all of us were happy.

It was mid-afternoon by the time we checked in so we took it easy and spent some time exploring Darling Harbour. We were told that it had been recently redeveloped, and indeed, the waterfront seemed rather all swanky and new. We explored the Harbourside mall, peered at ships docked at the waterfront, and had some fun playing around the water feature.
